American Friends of Israel Navy SEALs’ (AFINS) Buddy Line program (in Hebrew, “Hevel Zug”) helps struggling IDF combat veterans find their way back. Through their connection with an Israel Navy SEAL buddy for a transformative year of sailing, surfing or scuba diving, the program has been proven to facilitate self-empowerment and post-traumatic growth. For some veterans, in the beginning, it’s the only time each week that they leave their homes. Buddy Line today serves 1,400 combat reservists and veterans, with hopes to double, and costs $2,000 per participant for an entire year.
